I had this company install a water heater with a 6 year warranty back on 3/15/06. Only 4 1/2 years later, the heater is toast. When the service technician came out, I presented him the paperwork showing that it was still under warranty. The technician then proceeds to tell me that I will still have to pay for a new heater (something like $800-$900) and that I will only receive a check months later for $150 for my old heater (which is still under warranty)! I understand that the labor is not covered, but this should only be a few hundred dollars. I have since called 3 local companies to ask them their policy on warrantied water heaters they installed. They all said the same thing, they replace the tank itself (at no charge) and only charge for the labor to do so, which averages around $300. None of the local companies could believe that this company wanted $1,150 to change out a water heater that was still covered by warranty. After telling the Affordable Water Heater serviceman "absolutely not" he left and I called the Affordable Water Heater mainline and asked to speak to manager. I was put on hold for 25 minutes and finally hung up. I called back later and spoke with the person who answered who just gave me the run around and said that's standard procedure and fed me a lies about how warranties worked. Obviously this is a company that must prey upon the elderly and those who cannot defend themselves.
