Mediator - Mariam Zadeh
|
I had the unfortunate experience of having Mariam Zadeh as the mediator of an employment case. From the beginning, it was clear that Ms. Zadeh was in favor of the employee/employee’s attorney, regardless of the evidence. We showed her tangible evidence that the employee’s allegations were false or exaggerated and everything we showed her was dismissed, based on “well [employee] said this or that”. We showed her postings by the employee that contradicted her allegations, yet, she believed we were the bad guy, simply by being the employer. I have been in lots of mediations and I have never had a mediator be so one-sided and bias. It was clear she simply wanted to settle the case. At one point, she even gave a range of 300% for settling, as her recommendation (i.e. “I can settle it between $100k to $300k). How can anyone, in good faith, negotiate with such a big range? She seemed incompetent and only cared about settling so it does not affect her settlement statistics.
I now know why the employee’s attorney insisted on using Mariam Zadeh. She’s clearly an employee advocate. Employers beware!
