Dealings with Myers-Stevens & Toohey & Co., Inc. have been very unsatisfactory, frustrating and impersonal even to the point of rudeness. Their Student HEalth Insurance brochure gives a false impression that the student insured with Interscholastic Football Accident Insurance is covered until the start of the next school year in Fall, when they really are not. The company does not notify the insured that coverage is expiring or give current customers notice that it is time to renew. The expiration date is not on the Insurance Card. The claims manager does not always get her voice mail messages. In trying to resolve this issue with them, they never once expressed any concern for the welfare of the patient/insured student, nor have they conveyed any sadness that he was injured. They say that their coverage is available from May 1st prior to summer starting, but consumers have no written way to know this. Their website is not kept updated. We feel the real problem may stem from not having a clear definition of term "school year" and having different expirations for two related insurance products -- the football accident insurance at issue here, and the 24/7 Student Accident Insurance that the insured also purchased for several years from Myers-Stevens & Toohey & Co., Inc. We are no longer buying student health insurance from them, will be petitioning our school district to find another provider.
